Are You Native?

As a child in the ’90s, Shauna White Bear turned her family’s camcorder on herself, recording stories of her life to send to her estranged father. Decades later, now a moccasin maker in her 40s, she revisits those unsent tapes. What unfolds is a conversation across time as Shauna confronts the grief of losing her father and the complicated responsibility tied to carrying the White Bear name. Through a kaleidoscope of archival video and present-day reflections, the film explores identity, grief and self-acceptance.
