Revisioning A Different World

Revisioning A Different World

Presented by Netflix

With Felicia Pride, Jordan Aaron Hall, and Shawn Peters; moderated by Doreen St. Félix.

Join showrunner and executive producer Felicia Pride and director of cinematography Shawn Peters as they discuss the highly anticipated reboot of A Different World and the enduring influence of the beloved series. First premiering in 1987 as a spinoff of the industry-altering series The Cosby Show, A Different World transformed television’s portrayal of college life at historically Black campuses, creating space for stories that resonated across generations. Together, the panelists will reflect on the original show’s cultural impact, explore the creative process behind reimagining it for today’s audiences with special attention paid to the look of the series, and consider how the reboot continues the tradition of telling nuanced, aspirational and deeply relevant stories about intergenerational Black life.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided.
