Felicia Pride
Showrunner
Felicia Pride is an award-winning filmmaker, television writer, author, showrunner and executive producer whose work celebrates the richness and resilience of Black women’s lives. A proud Baltimore native, she began her creative journey through hip-hop before drawing inspiration from literary icons like James Baldwin, Octavia Butler, and Toni Morrison.
After earning an MFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College, she built a career across media and entertainment. As an author, she has published several books, including the summer 2025 novella Come Close, which explores love and second chances for a 40-something Black woman rediscovering romance. She also founded Honey Chile, a media and production company dedicated to stories by and for Black women over 40.
Pride currently serves as showrunner and executive producer of Netflix’s highly anticipated A Different World sequel series, set to premiere this fall. In film, she wrote and executive produced the critically acclaimed Netflix feature Really Love (2020), made her directorial debut with Tender (STARZ, 2021), and followed with Look Back at It (2024), which won the Audience Award at the BlackStar Film Festival.
